■ Parasols and skirts that connect Nishijin textiles, which are in the greatest crisis after the war, to the future

"Nishijin-ori" is a silk fabric made in the Nishijin area in the northwestern part of Kyoto city. There are more than 20 processes before it is completed, and it is a beautiful traditional craft that can only be created by the hands of skilled craftsmen.

The shipment value of this Nishijin brocade in 2020 was 18.1 billion yen, the lowest amount ever, falling below 20 billion yen for the first time since 1975 (*1). The impact of the new coronavirus hit Nishijin textiles, which has been in decline due to the shift away from kimonos, and has had a major impact.

Renakunatta, which has faced many issues in the traditional craft industry, will release the parasol "Nishijin Parasol" and the skirt "Nishijin High Waist Corset Skirt" as an initiative to connect such Nishijin textiles to the future. In the future, it is an item that will lead to the creation of culture by casually wearing Nishijin-ori so that it will not be "discontinued".

■ "Nishijin textile x cotton" sublimates into a functional item that can be used casually in everyday life.

This item aims to expand the possibilities of Nishijin weaving by making it functional for everyday use.

The biggest feature is that it is woven with cotton instead of the silk that was originally used in Nishijin textiles. Cotton is a material that is basically not used in Nishijin-ori, which is characterized by its delicate expression, because a large amount of hair comes out when weaving. However, in order to take advantage of the practicality and expressive power of cotton to create a new form of Nishijin textile that fits in with modern life, we took on the first challenge with the weaver, Kajikinran.

In particular, the parasol is a highly practical item with a UV shielding rate (UV cut rate) of 99% or higher and a light shielding rate of 99% or higher without special processing. This practicality is achieved through the use of cotton, a natural material with high light-shielding properties, and the fine texture that can only be achieved with Nishijin textiles.

The skirt is laced up at the back, making it easy for a wide range of people to pick up without worrying about the waist size. This is also woven with cotton, and although it has depth due to the Nishijin weave, it is not as lustrous as silk, making it a skirt that is easy to use in everyday life.

In addition, cotton is a material that does not easily retain heat and is less likely to cause sweat stains. Cleaning and hand washing are also possible, so you can wear it a lot during the summer.

■Overturn the conventional image with Nishijin textile technology. The theme is "summer with culture"

The pattern of the fabric reproduces the pattern of the decayed mural that Renacnatta representative Okochi saw in Italy. In general, when you hear Nishijin-ori, you tend to imagine "Japanese pattern", but the definition of Nishijin-ori is "a patterned fabric woven with yarn that has been dyed", and it does not necessarily have to be a Japanese pattern. Renakunatta dares to adopt a European design to overturn the conventional image and feel new value while valuing the original definition of Nishijin textile.

In this item, the stains on the wall paintings and the color changes that have decayed are beautifully expressed with the high technology of Nishijin weaving. Not only does the accent color of the thread add depth, but depending on the angle you look at it, different patterns emerge and the impression changes.

The theme of the parasol and skirt, which has a deep European atmosphere, is "summer with culture." Please enjoy wearing it as a set up.

■ A dress that updates "Tango Chirimen" will also be released on the same day

On the same day as the release date of the parasol “Nishijin Parasol” and the skirt “Nishijin High Waist Corset Skirt”, we will also release a dress “Tango 2Way Dress” that updates Tango Chirimen. This is the second installment of the popular "Tango Chirimen Collection" released in 2022.

As with the previous item, this item, which was created in collaboration with Usui Orimono, features a “shibo” texture that maximizes the beauty of chirimen and a one-tone color that complements it. In addition, crepe is sometimes treated as a fabric for kimonos and other items, so it is difficult to use on a daily basis. Also great for use.
